How to strengthen brand trust

Gift: Something given voluntarily without payment in return, to show favour toward someone or make a gesture of assistance.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the act of giving. mf.1 is fundraising for CancerCare Manitoba’s Challenge for Life and I can’t help but notice the joy and satisfaction people get when donating to such a worthy cause.

This makes me wonder, how can we bring more joy into business transactions? We marketers always talk about, “Giving the customer exactly what they need”, and “Giving 110%”, but what about giving selfless and unexpected gifts? I’m not talking about sending bouquets of flowers to your customer, but perhaps giving them a bit more than they paid for, a few extra minutes of your time, or a heartfelt thank you to show you truly care.

You might ask, “How will this help me succeed? Don’t true gift-givers expect nothing in return?” Let’s take a look at the bigger picture. The average North American sees over 3,000 advertisements a day. With all this clutter, they’re forced to make decisions based on trust. Who would you rather work with: A helpful and generous organization? Or the company who seems to only be concerned with their bottom line?

Generosity has become the foundation of brand trust and strong customer relationships. If you would like to make a generous donation to CancerCare Manitoba, please click here.
